Social Development Minister Sisisi Tolashe has pledged her support and commitment to increasing South African Social Security Company (SASSA) companies through an engagement together with the agency's senior supervisors at a strategic setting up session in Cape Town.
Tolashe on Tuesday expressed her heartfelt congratulations to the various social grant beneficiaries, who excelled from the 2024 matric exams.
With the 724 156 full-time learners who registered for that National Senior Certificate (NSC), 572 338 are social grant beneficiaries, representing 81% in the registered pupils during the instruction sector.
These learners realized a commendable pass rate of 86%.
"This indicates that the investment national government is generating within the life of very poor and vulnerable small children is yielding a beneficial effect in breaking intergenerational poverty," Tolashe said.
